Hazardous Materials, Lead-Based Paint, and Asbestos Survey – HNLC Port Authority – Newark, Ohio

STONE was retained by the Heath-Newark-Licking County (HNLC) Port Authority to complete an asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and hazardous materials (Hazmat) assessment for a building located at the Heath, Newark, Licking County Port Authority facility. The building was planned for demolition. The ACM survey was conducted in general accordance with Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) protocols. A lead-based paint (LBP) assessment of painted surfaces was performed during the site visit using a handheld X-ray fluorescent (XRF) analyzer. Hazardous materials including regulated and universal wastes were observed throughout the building and included household size containers of paints, adhesives, cleaning chemicals, coatings and acetone, as well as fluorescent bulbs, light ballasts that may be Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB)-containing, mercury thermostats, air conditioning units and drinking water fountains that may contain Freon. STONE provided field sampling results within five days of receipt of laboratory results.

“STONE performed the ecological survey, environmental sites assessment, wetland delineation, waterway permit for 20 culverts throughout Monroe and Washington Counties. They also prepared the environmental document. We got praises from Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Office of Environmental Services (OES) about their performance. They were a pleasure to work with and were always very responsive.”
