Asbestos Hazard Evaluation Specialist(AHES)License Renewal
Mr. Jonathan A. Zanders (Jon Zanders), Asbestos Hazard Evaluation Specialist (AHES) #ES34376, recently received approval from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) continuing into his 10th year as an AHES in the State of Ohio. Mr. Zanders has performed various asbestos assessments throughout the state for residential, multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. Mr. Zanders’ clients have included various Metropolitan Housing Associations throughout the state, private industrial/manufacturing clients, residential property owners, lending institutions, and various state departments.

President Hank Stonerook, P.E. lead an informational briefing about U.S. EPA required oil spill prevention, control, and countermeasures (SPCC) plan requirements for farms on March 28th. Representatives from Stone Environmental, an Ohio-based engineering company, provided details about the SPCC requirements including who needs to prepare a plan, what chemicals are to be inventoried, and various options to develop a plan including do-it-yourself. Compliance deadline is fast approaching on May 10, 2013. The briefing included the following handout material to assist in understanding the regulation, discussion of potential penalties for non-compliance, and examples of spill prevention techniques that can be implemented. Ohio EPA Vapor Intrusion Training
This training offered by the Ohio EPA provided attendees Sharon, Kevin & Jon with hands-on experience using tools to effectively collect vapor/soil gas samples. Topics during this training were GeoProbe® techniques and soil profiling; sub-slab sample portal installation and sample spacing considerations; overview and discussion of various field screening passive collection methods; and,meeting data quality objectives. The training answered not only “Why did you collect that sample?”, but also “How did you collect that sample?”
