Stone Environmental Supports Those Living with Multiple Sclerosis
On April.12, team Cosmic Crew participated in the Walk MS:Columbus 2014, held at the Columbus, Ohio Zoo & Aquarium, to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The funds raised will support life-changing programs and cutting-edge research, giving hope to the more than 14,000 people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in our community.
We were honored to be one of the monetary sponsors for team Cosmic Crew. Jon Zanders, Project Field Manager at Stone Environmental Engineering Services, is a close friend of one of the team members, Kate Schwartz, and wanted to be a part of this great cause. Kate’s friend was diagnosed with MS several years ago and struggles daily from effects of the disease. The Cosmic Crew team was organized to support Kate’s friend and to be a part of finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Kate also walked in memory of her cousin Krysten, who passed away from the disease on April 13, 2013.
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic and progressive disease causing damage to the brain and spinal cord. Millions of people are affected by MS and the challenges of living with its unpredictable symptoms, which range from loss of muscle control, vision, balance and numbness. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are helping researchers learn more about MS to create a cure.
The walk provides the opportunity for people living with MS, family members and friends of those affected by MS to connect and encourage each other in hopes that one’s connections can be stronger than the connections MS destroys.
Cosmic Crew to date has raised $2,223 dollars of the $290,245 total funds raised for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s 2014 Columbus Zoo walk.
We were honored to donate to this organization. Not only do we enjoy helping charitable organizations, but we also enjoy providing a safe and clean environment for our community. We provide quality, cost-effective planning and design services primarily in environmental and civil engineering to institutions, governments, businesses, and industries throughout Ohio and the Midwest. Take a look at some of the environmental projects we have completed in Ohio.
