New Office Building Site Design – Columbus, Ohio

STONE was contracted to provide site engineering services for a new two-story office building located on Ackerman Road in northwest Columbus. Engineering services included a site survey to locate all utilities, roads and parking areas, landscaping and outdoor lighting, and geotechnical investigations to aid in building foundation and access road design. STONE then prepared the site compliance plans that included all zoning and conceptual site issues, and detailed design plans that included utility and storm water improvements, outdoor lighting, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) walk and parking requirements, and landscaping.

The new building was located on a confined parcel and was “shoe-horned” into the site. Various technical challenges were addressed in the design stage of the project, including working around and saving existing mature trees, developing an ADA-compliant site layout of walkways and drop off areas, and designing utilities to fit the site with minimal disturbance. City of Columbus engineering officials reviewed and approved the final plans.
