ODNR 2023-2024 STW Campgrounds Services – Domokur Architects / ODNR – Various, Ohio

Domokur was retained by ODNR to provide Program of Requirements (POR), criteria documents, and construction administration for statewide campground improvements at the following ODNR facilities:

• Buck Creek
• Harrison Lake
• Hueston Woods
• Indian Lake
• Jesse Owens
• Punderson
• Tar Hollow

Domokur requested STONE to assist with development of civil engineering aspects of the project. The ODNR campground sites were reviewed for existing conditions, including utility infrastructure capabilities, and existing service connection capabilities. This assessment was then used to develop criteria documents for the construction needs at each site. Overall project deliverables included Draft Criteria Document, Final Criteria Document, and Criteria-level Cost Estimate (with assumptions stated). Within Domokur’s criteria document, STONE addressed Site Civil (road, drainage), and On-site Water and Wastewater Treatment (excluding MEP, buildings).

STONE also conducted initial “red flag” review of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) concerns. This consisted of literature review and limited on-site observations by an ecologist/scientist/archaeologist of the proposed area to be impacted at each campground.

I just wanted to reach out to both of you & all of Stone for your outstanding effort, due diligence & professionalism on this project.

I’m certainly no ESA expert, but I was blown away by the detail contained in your report, especially given the tight timeframe that was required for delivery.

Please know that your work at Walnut Grove is very much appreciated by everyone here at POAH.

For the record, I am now a huge fan of Stone Environmental, and I hope we will continue our working relationship well into the future.

Doug Dempsey, POAH
