Phase I ESA and UST Removal – Lockbourne, Ohio

STONE was contracted to perform a limited Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) at the former Cardinal Truss facility on Canal Road in Lockbourne, Franklin County, Ohio. Three underground storage tanks (USTs) (1-8,000 gallon fuel oil, 1-8,000 gallon gasoline, and 1-1,000 gallon fuel oil) were identified. STONE as then retained to provide project oversight of the permanent removal of the USTs and perform closure sampling and reporting pursuant to Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 1301-7-9-12.

Field work was conducted in mid-February and included removing the three USTs. STONE completed the field work, collected soil samples from the UST cavity and stockpiled soil for subsequent laboratory analysis, reviewed the analytical results, and submitted the Closure Report to the Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR). This was all completed under a rush turnaround to prevent delay of the property transaction. STONE worked closely with the BUSTR to expedite the review process, and no further action (NFA) status was granted by BUSTR one day after the report submittal.
