We just finished up our 3rd annual monitoring of a stream relocation project in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Looking back to the post construction photographs from January 2015, to the first year of annual monitoring (September 2015), to the second year of monitoring (September 2016), and to today, you can really see the progress of the mitigation efforts. The riparian buffer continues to become more diverse, as native wildflowers, grasses, and other floodplain vegetation continues to grow, shading the stream, and provided bank stability. Live stake plantings of various willows and dogwoods, completed last year, are already reaching heights of four feet.
